About Wan Chai

Located towards the north side of Hong Kong Island, Wan Chai is predominantly commercial and boasts the city’s main trade-exhibition and conference center. This district is famous for shopping, restaurants and a general frenzied buzz. Residential properties consist of a mixture of older and more modern buildings. Almost all forms of public transport are easily accessible. The Cross Harbour Tunnel in Causeway Bay leads to the Kowloon Peninsula. Central is less than 10 minutes away by bus, and 2 stops away on the MTR. Housing: Serviced apartments such as those at the Convention Plaza Apartments are more modern in style. Residents within this complex specifically, have access to the Grand Hyatt’s facilities. There are a range of new & old properties scattered across Lockhart Road and the more recently re-developed Star Street. The latter is located behind Pacific Place 3, at the border of Wan Chai & Admiralty. It is an up-and-coming neighborhood popular with young professionals and those working in nearby locations. Schools: Bradbury Junior School is a member of the English Schools Foundation (ESF) and is located a short drive away on Stubbs Road. The French International School is located nearby in Jardine’s Lookout, and follows the International Baccalaureate program. There are a few kindergartens in the area, including branches of The Woodland International Pre-school and the International Montessori School. Highlights: There are a number of hotels in Wan Chai, including the 5-Star Grand Hyatt Hotel. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, as well as The Arts Centre and Academy for Performing Arts are located along the waterfront. Southorn Playground is one of Hong Kong’s major sports and recreational complexes and is found on Southorn Road. There are some shopping centers in the area such as Hopewell Centre, while Pacific Place in Admiralty and Times Square in Causeway Bay, are just 1 stop away on either side of the MTR.
