About Ho Man Tin

Lying between Kowloon City and Sham Shui Po districts, and spreading towards Ho Man Tin and Yau Yat Chuen, Kowloon Tong is one of Kowloon’s most prestigious residential areas. Its tree-lined streets have been popular among both middle and upper classes since the hey-day of the colonial era, when many wealthy British families chose to live in the quiet neighborhood. Until recently, grand, single-family detached homes were the norm, with the most expensive houses – and homes of many celebrities and billionaires – located along Oxford Road, La Salle Road, York Road and Kadoorie Avenue. Larger residential complexes are now on the rise, but demand for standalone homes continues to grow, with numbers now comparable to that on The Peak. International schools are plentiful here, as are dance, music and martial-arts academies. Quality shopping and transportation are also readily available. Housing: The low-density neighborhood consists mainly of detached and semi-detached houses within gated communities on British-named streets. Properties are surrounded by green areas with a mountainous back drop that includes both Lion Rock and Beacon Hill. There are also a number of mid-rises in the area as well as newer high-rise developments including The Hamptons and The Beacon Hill. Schools: Schools in the area include Australian International School, American International School, Yew Chung International School, Concordia International School and Diocesan Boys School. King George V (KGV), one of the oldest secondary schools in Hong Kong, and a member of the English Schools Foundation (ESF) is also located in nearby Ho Man Tin. Hong Kong Preschool (HKPS) is located in Kowloon Tong and combines a range of education and developmental theories in its teaching approach. PIPS is an International Baccalaureate Prep School that is located a short drive away, above Kowloon Station. It follows an enquiry-based primary years programme (PYP). Highlights: Kowloon Tong MTR Station, located at the intersection of Kwun Tong & East Rail Lines, provides convenient travel to most areas in Hong Kong. Festival Walk is located above the Kowloon Tong MTR Station. It is an upscale shopping mall that has almost 1,000,000 sq.ft of retail space as well as a multiplex cinema and ice-skating rink. The MacLehose Trail, a hiking trail that stretches 100km from west to east New Territories can also be accessed nearby, along which one can experience some of the most scenic areas of Hong Kong’s country parks. Yau Yat Chuen Garden City Club is also a short drive away.
